Showcasing Hollywood values, Senator Joe Lieberman is a thorn in the side to progressive Democrats, this time over government-run healthcare. The logical choice for the liberals at the Huffington Post, with support from Hollywood stars, is to attack Joe's family. [1]
Monday (7:30pm ET) the Colbert Report is replaying the Conservapedia interview on national television.
We're hosting follow-up discussions here.
New York City Mayor Bloomberg visits an offshore Danish wind farm, and says he wants the inefficient and ugly monstrosity duplicated off Long Island. He "shrugged off questions about his own carbon footprint and profligate use of his two private jets," the fawning New York Times reports.[2]
In the U.K., a priest dressed as Father Christmas bringing gifts is called a security threat, removed from a children's detention center. The Rev Canon James Rosenthal brought gifts for 35 boys and girls to Yarl's Wood detention center dressed in a red robe with a long white beard, holding a bishop's mitre and crook. He was detained by security guards before police were called to escort him off property. "This was about bringing a moment of joy to kids locked up in a deplorable situation." [3]
Rasmussen Presidential Tracking Poll had Barack Obama's approval index fall to an all time low Sunday at -19%. [4]
Poll numbers by state. [5]
"Lieberman Tells Reid To His Face: I'll Vote Against Current Health Care Bill"[6]
"Copenhagen climate summit negotiations 'suspended.'"[7] It's hard for liberals to increase government controls after the deceit is exposed in published emails!
Paul Samuelson, whose work helped form the basis of modern economics, died on Sunday in his home in Belmont, Massachusetts, after a brief illness. He was 94. [8]
The US federal deficit is currently experiencing explosive exponential growth.[9][10] Fiat currency is currency that is founded merely on government decree and cannot be converted to an asset such as gold and silver. The United States currency has been fiat currency since the time of Richard Nixon. Over 3,800 fiat currencies have failed with the exception of the currencies we have with us today. What’s different about the currencies we have with us today? Nothing![11] The history of fiat money has been a history of failure. Every single fiat currency since the first century Romans has ended in devaluation followed by collapse, of not only the currency, but of the economy that housed the fiat currency as well.[12]
Obama Administration "make[s] a 'witch hunt' one of its top priorities and ... attempt[s] to fire civil servants who they believe are Republican 'sympathizers.'"[13]
Another "green" bust: "Geothermal Project in California Is Shut Down." Obama has invested "some $440 million into its geothermal program this year alone."[14]
Experts predict the next great ClimateGate story will emerge from the United States. For three years NASA has been stonewalling the release of climate data in Freedom of Information requests. It is the same exact stunt the British CRU played before their email was released without permission. [15] [16]
Exclusive: Conservatives attack liberal stronghold on Twitter. What once was a liberal celebration of Obama is now controlled by Conservatives. They have overtaken the #obamafriday hashtag to showcase the empty rhetoric and failed policies of this president. [17]
Global warming hucksters disproven by record low temperatures, and it's not even winter yet: "Feel cold out there? No wonder -- Redding officially has never recorded a lower temperature than today's so far."[18]
Democrats lift debt ceiling by $1.8 trillion, fear 2010 backlash. In a bold but risky year-end strategy, Democrats are preparing to raise the federal debt ceiling by as much as $1.8 trillion before New Year’s rather than have to face the issue again prior to the 2010 elections. [19]
The greatest scam in modern history: the science behind Global Warming. ClimateGate deniers and their media allies are in a rush to put the scam of the century behind them. Al Gore says stolen emails were taken out of context, "If you take one little thing from 10 years ago out of context and describe it inaccurately, then it becomes a controversy without any real substance." Maybe Al should have read the emails more closely, one CRU email was from just two months ago. [20]
The effect of Keynesian economics, the federal government's budget deficit reached a record $292 billion through the first two months of fiscal year 2010. Obama's failed solution- we need to spend more. [21]
New York state will end the month of December with a negative billion dollar bank balance. [22]
Riding a wave of positive publicity from her book tour, Sarah Palin's favorable rating has crept within just 1% of President Barack Obama's job approval rating, according to the latest polls by CNN and USA Today/Gallup. [23]
Senate Democrats may Drop Public Option
After days of secret talks, Senate Democrats tentatively agreed Tuesday night to drop a government-run insurance option from sweeping healthcare legislation, several officials said, a concession to party moderates whose votes are critical to passage of President Barack Obama's top domestic priority. [24]
A Republican lawmaker heads to Copenhagen to tell the delegates at the climate summit to end what he terms "Scientific fascism": [25]
Holiday Spending Down 21% from Last Year.
Holiday spending is not looking good this year, even when compared to last year’s dismal Christmas season, providing little holiday cheer for the nation’s retailers. [26]
The New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing into the night prior to its expected passage by a one-vote margin of same-sex marriage. Hearing streamed live Though the real battle is over what will be taught the next generation, none of the testimony by the same-sex marriage proponents admits this goal.
68 Years Ago Japan Launched A Surprise (And Unprovoked) Attack Upon Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It was "a day that will live in infamy," as President Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his address to the nation. The attack upon America's brave patriots began at 6:00 a.m. When the attack ended shortly before 10:00 a.m., the American forces had paid a fearful price; twenty-one ships of the U.S. Pacific Fleet were sunk or damaged and 2,403 were dead. The shock and anger caused by the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor united a divided nation and was translated into a wholehearted commitment to victory in World War II.
Christmas Axed From Climate Summit. United Nations says religious event has no place at climate conference, cancels tree decorations. Participants at Copenhagen's global climate summit will be meeting during the holiday season, but they will not be surrounded by festive Christmas decor, according to Denmark's Foreign Ministry. Good thing God hasn't canceled Denmark! [27]
"Support for President Obama has dropped below 50 percent for the first time in a CNN poll ... a drop of 7 percentage points from a survey last month."[28]
The Liberal Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has elected another Lesbian as assistant bishop. The move underscored Episcopal commitment to accepting same-sex, perverted relationships despite enormous pressure from other Anglicans to change that stand. Episcopal conservatives have formed a rival church, the Anglican Church in North America. Several overseas Anglicans have been pressuring the Anglican spiritual leader, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, to officially recognize the new conservative entity. [29]
As unlikely as it sounds -- and even though American patriot Dick Cheney himself describes it as absurd -- a movement is afoot to "draft" Cheney into running for president in 2012. Some conservatives want the former vice president to do more than just beat Barack Obama in the press. They want him to beat the president in the polls, too. [30]
California Senatorial Candidate Carly Fiorina Delivers Weekly GOP Address. [31]
Lord Christopher Monckton warns Marxists control the U.N. and it needs to be shut down. Also, he calls Global Warming legislation as a means to "impose dictatorial control on all aspects of human life on the Globe." [32] Monckton also slammed Obama’s science czar John Holdren. Holdren's 1977 book 'Ecoscience' advocates a "planetary regime". [33]
Ronald Reagan speaks out against socialized medicine...from 1961. As accurate then as it is now:[34]
The Obama Administration's hate for American values is headed for the preschool level, as his so-called "safe schools" chief Kevin Jennings is now recommending child porn be taught to the kids: [35]
Vision Victory, who saw this recession coming and who also bought gold at $450 an ounce, provides some commentary on the liberal/Keynesian economists who have been clueless when it comes to economic forecasting.[36] In addition, Vision Victory also provides some analysis on why the United States may soon see an economic depression that lasts at least 15 years.[37] Developing multiple streams of income is one of the best ways to protect yourself against a possible future economic depression.[38]
Public Policy Polling: Eight most vulnerable Senate seats in 2010 all held by Democrats. [39]
The left's police-hating chickens are coming home to roost. While partisan liberals have gone out of their way to blame conservative media and the Tea Party movement for creating a "climate of hate," they are silent on the cultural and literal war on cops that has raged for decades -- and escalated tragically this year. The total number of law enforcement officers shot and killed this year is up 19 percent over last year, according to the Christian Science Monitor. More officers have died in ambush incidents this year than in any other since 2000. [40]
Intellectual brilliance is no guarantee against being dead wrong: [41]
The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada’s largest newspaper, released a poll they commissioned showing Republican senatorial candidate Sue Lowden beating U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a head-to-head match-up by 10 points. [42]
Retail sales slump
During Black Friday Sales inched down 0.3%, surprising those who thought this November would easily beat last year's. "Santa delivers a big lump of coal in November," said Ken Perkins, president of research company Retail Metrics Inc. With Christmas just three weeks away, retailers are scrambling to step up their efforts. The holiday season is a cutthroat time for the industry because about 30% to 40% of a retailer's annual profits are earned during November and December, Perkins said. [43]
Unemployment Rate Declines Modestly From 10.2% To 10.0% In November - Net Loss of 11,000 jobs.[44]

U.N. Deletes Documents, Won't Come Clean on Costs of Greening World Offices. The United Nations, which has been telling the world that it must cut back dramatically on its greenhouse gas emissions, has finally decided to practice what it preaches. But the world body isn't coming clean on the full costs of its self-greening effort with the member states who foot the bill.[45]
After Fox News began asking questions about a pilot project that aims to start that process, the documentation concerning the greening effort abruptly disappeared from the U.N. Web site where it had been stored. Click here to see the Web site before the documents were removed. Now click here to see the same site as of Dec. 1, 2009.
The documentary I.O.U.S.A One Nation. Under Stress. In Debt is a documentary that every American needs to see. [46] David Walker, who served as United States Comptroller General from 1998 to 2008, argues that the most serious threat to the United States republic is its own fiscal irresponsibility.
Al Gore, your claims are flying off that spinning merry-go-round you call global warming; better pack up that peace prize, because the Nobel committee may want it back!
- "... scientists implicated in Climategate have gained funding and career advancement by twisting data, hiding evidence, and shutting out dissenters by corrupting the peer-review process." [47]
Foolish Obama White House "Science Officials" Defend Climate Change Scheme In Spite Of Growing E-Mail & Fraudulent Data Scandal. [48]
Presenting eco-hypocrisy that only a liberal celebrity with Hollywood values can provide. In addition, the Copenhagen summit is set to discuss the fake crisis of Global Warming. 16,500 people coming in from 192 countries will generate 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide. [49]
The fallout from Climategate has extended to the University of Pennsylvania, where one of the climatologists involved is now the subject of an investigation: [50]
71% of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the Obama Administration. That figure includes 46% who are Very Angry. The data suggests that the level of anger is growing. The 71% who are angry at federal government policies today is up five percentage points since September. Even more stunning, the 46% who are Very Angry is up 10 percentage points from September. [51]
First Human Embryonic Stem Cell Lines Approved for Use By Barack Obama. The federal government's chief medical facility will start harvesting embryonic stem cells after the National Institutes of Health on Wednesday announced it has approved 13 batches of master cells for a study using taxpayer dollars. Dozens more are in the pipeline. Like cutting medical treatment for Senior Citizens, President Obama doesn't mind killing Embryos either it seems. [52]
California's insurance commissioner said Tuesday he will push insurance companies doing business in California to divest their $12 billion in indirect investments in Iran's defense, nuclear, energy and banking industries. Commissioner Steve Poizner said he will urge the companies to voluntarily sell the investments they reported to his office. If they refuse to sell within 120 days, he plans to try to force the divestment so money paid by California policyholders is not flowing to a U.S.-listed state sponsor of terrorism. [53]
Surprise, no Democrats attended a congressional forum on ACORN. Rep. Darrell Issa said, "ACORN is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party." Attorney General Eric Holder's Justice Department ruled existing contracts with ACORN and the Housing and Urban Development can be honored. [54]
President Barack Obama ordered an additional 30,000 U.S. troops into the long war in Afghanistan on Tuesday night, but balanced the buildup with a pledge to an impatient nation to begin withdrawing American forces in 18 months. [55]
Democrats Jumping Ship Ahead of 2010 Midterm Elections
Cook Political Report House analyst David Wasserman notes a telling indicator that the political environment in 2010 is shaping up to be favorable for Republicans: Several Democratic candidates have decided to drop out of tough races, while Democratic members of Congress who rarely face serious challenges are finding themselves with their toughest re-elections in years. [56]
New York Times Science Writer Blasts 'Smug Groupthink' Among Climategate Scientists. "Contempt for critics is evident over and over again in the hacked e-mail messages, as if the scientists were a priesthood protecting the temple from barbarians. Yes, some of the skeptics have political agendas, but so do some of the scientists." says John Tierney. [57]
Facing A Huge, International Scandal, The Head of Fraud-Plagued Climate Research Lab to Temporarily Step Down! The director of the embattled Climatic Research Unit (CRU) in the United Kingdom is stepping down pending an investigation into allegations that he criminally overstated the case for man-made climate change. Is there a possible link to Al Gore to be revealed soon? [58]
As details emerge from ClimateGate, liberal scientists are shown to be cunning crooks. As cover, the liberal media will look to bury the story and discount it as the work of computer hackers illegally stealing data. Freedom of information requests may have led to the data being leaked intentionally. [59]
"They are making scientific progress more difficult now," says Willie Soon, a physicist, astronomer and climate researcher at the solar and stellar physics division of the Harvard University-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. "This is a shameful, dark day for science," he said in an interview.
Dr. Soon also suggested that there has been systemic suppression of dissenting opinion among scientists in the climate change community, ranging from social snubs to e-mail stalking and even threats of harm. [60]
79% Of American Voters Say Most Politicians Put Reelection Over Religious Faith and Doing What's Right! [61] (video)
Obama's achilles heel: a new study demonstrates that Obama currently has DRAMATICALLY fewer advisors who’ve made their living via the private sector than any other American President in the last 108 years — since the turn of the 20th century when the business of America became business.[62][63] Don't be surprised if the Obama administration tries to be a private sector job killing machine. The graph tells it all! Americans, help make ObamaCare Obama's Waterloo and vote out the Democrats in 2010![64]
As the Senate plunged into a widely anticipated debate Monday over sweeping Obamacare legislation, Republicans slammed the bill’s impact on individual care as well as the federal deficit. “I don't know what's more preposterous: saying that this plan 'saves Medicare' or thinking that people will actually believe you," Sen. Mitch McConnell told liberal Majority Leader Harry Reid. [65]
A groundswell of national pride for Barack Obama's long-overdue award:
A Christian relationship counsellor who refused to offer sex therapy to Gay couples has lost his unfair dismissal appeal in the United Kingdom. Gary MacFarlane, 47, from Bristol, was fired by marriage guidance service Relate after he said he could not do anything to promote gay sex due to his Christian beliefs. Apparently sodomists have rights in the secularist U.K. that Christians do not. [66]
The anti-war left is turning on the president it helped put into office, launching a counteroffensive against President Obama's decision to escalate the war in Afghanistan. Why would Obama think his fellow liberals would be any more loyal than he is? [67]
Run for your life if someone tells you, “We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.†As President Reagan said, government is the problem, not the solution. And the government’s solution to the AIG crisis was apparently unneeded! New York Federal Reserve Bank president Timothy Geithner, presently Treasury Secretary, did not believe that bankruptcy of insurance giant AIG would have threatened the entire financial system. Why then a several trillion dollar bailout? [68]
Media and government hysteria are wrong again: "Only 32 states are currently reporting widespread H1N1 flu activity in the United States, down from 48 states three weeks ago."[69]
Sarah Palin Debuts at No. 1 on the N.Y. Times Best-Seller List: "Few nonfiction books have debuted so well."[70]
"The most obvious thing that strikes anyone wading through the CRU documents is how easy it was for a small number of 'experts' to propel their data-raped conclusions first into a 'peer-reviewed' 'consensus' and then up through western governments into the international fait accomplis of Kyoto, the IPCC and now Copenhagen." The Dog Ate My Tree Rings
Advent, the church-year celebration of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, begins today. It is a time of both reflection and repentance, and of joyous hope and expectation for God’s Kingdom on Earth! [71]
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40;31
Swiss voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional ban on minarets on Sunday, barring construction of the iconic Mosque towers in a surprise vote that put Switzerland at the forefront of a European backlash against a growing Muslim population. "The minaret is a sign of political power and demand, comparable with whole-body covering by the burqa, tolerance of forced marriage and genital mutilation of girls," the sponsors said. They noted that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has compared mosques to Islam's military barracks and called "the minarets our bayonets." Leftist world-view groups like Amnesty International said the vote violated religious rights, and would most likely be overturned by the liberal European Court of Human Rights. [72]
Looking for data supporting global warming claims? The "scientists" threw it out: "Scientists at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based. It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years."[73]
Best Buy, the giant retailer that refuses to acknowledge Christmas in its advertising, calling the Christian holiday everything but, doesn't seem to have a problem wishing its customers a "Happy Eid al-Adha", a Muslim holiday. Are they afraid of being bombed? [74] & [75]
A sportswriter for the liberal, secular Los Angeles Times who announced two years ago he was a transsexual and was changing his gender to female, was found dead Friday in a suspected suicide. This tragedy is an all too common result of Homosexuality and/or gender confusion, and could be avoided by a firm grounding in Christian Values, morality. [76]
A typical Public school teacher is absent nearly 5% of the time, often taking "discretionary" days off on Fridays, Mondays and before vacation breaks. "Between kindergarten and 12th grade, that means a student is taught by someone other than the regularly assigned teacher for the equivalent of two-thirds of a school year."[77]
Ignoring the harm and depravity caused by gambling, as illustrated in the Bible by the Roman soldiers' gambling for Jesus's clothing, the Obama Administration announced its refusal to meet a statutory deadline for banning internet gambling. Liberal Barney Frank vows to repeal the ban before it is ever implemented.[78]
Volunteers are fleeing Wikipedia -- the house of atheism -- in droves. "More than 49,000 editors left Wikipedia's English-language edition during the first three months of 2009, compared with only 4,900 for the same quarter a year earlier."[79] Atheism is the antithesis of learning and charity, and Wikipedia could sink faster than the Titanic.
December 1
Eighty Percent of Americans Believe Obama Is A Liar! The latest Quinnipiac University poll reveals that eight out of ten people do not believe President Obama's assertions that the proposed National Socialist (Obamacare) healthcare scam will reduce healthcare costs. Less than one-fifth of the voters -- 19% of the sample -- think he will keep his word. Nine of 10 Republicans and eight of 10 Independents said that whatever passes will add to the torrent of red ink. By a margin of four to three, even Democrats agreed this is likely. [80]
An email by liberal global warming professor Michael Mann concerned how the journal "Climate Research" published a contrary view: "Mr. Mann went on to suggest that the journal itself be blackballed: 'Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal.'"[81]
"The director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Dr. John P. Holdren, is a key player in the Climategate e-mails flap, which is shaping up as the biggest scandal in the history of modern science."[82]
Be a patriotic American and stand with us against liberal bigotry toward the Christian faith! Tell YouTube to remove desecration videos of the Eucharist. [83]
President Obama is days away from announcing a new Afghanistan strategy, but his immediate battle will come from liberals within his own party who are vowing retribution against him for committing tens of thousands of more troops to the conflict. [84]
Another big news story about Conservapedia is due to hit the newsstands and internet as early as this weekend.
Families with special-needs children and people with chronic illnesses stand to lose hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in tax benefits under Obamacare legislation, critics say, warning that a plan to cap the amount of money people can put into special "flexible spending" health accounts will have "cruel consequences." [85]
"Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist": "we have terrorists getting their constitutional rights in New York City, but I suspect that they’re going to deny these SEALs their right to confrontation in a military courtroom in Virginia." These Navy "SEALs are being charged for allegedly giving the detainee a 'punch in the gut,'" a defense attorney explained.[86]
The National Inflation Association has released a new video entitled The Dollar Bubble which features investor/U.S. Senate candidate Peter Schiff, Ron Paul, investor Marc Faber, trend forecaster Gerald Celente, investor Jim Rogers, and others.[87]
Democratic Congressman John Adler voted for the "cap and trade" bill, proven by climategate to be based on fraudulent science.[88] Now Mr. Adler has an opponent for reelection: popular NFL lineman Jon Runyan, who played for the local Philadelphia Eagles.[89]
Happy Thanksgiving!
This is traditionally a day set aside to give thanks to the Lord for His blessings. Second only to Independence Day, Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday, and as such, it is rooted deeply -- like our nation -- in our faith in God.
Throughout early American history, when they suffered from drought, famine or war, Americans paused, not to seek vengeance or to question their faith, but to give thanks to God for the blessings they still had. Not only have many Americans forgotten or never learned the historic origins of our Thanksgiving -- to pause and give thanks to God for our abundance -- but radical secularists are intent on removing God and Faith from our national life altogether. Many of the entertainment and political elite seem to be threatened by religious faith.
ClimateGate spreads down under! The New Zealand National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) was caught yesterday producing a graph with data manipulated to create a warming trend where there wasn't one. [90]
Senator Tells Climate Change Researchers to Retain Controversial E-Mails. Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe has sent letters to several climate change scientists and to the inspectors general of various federal agencies notifying them to retain breached documents and e-mails that he says prove researchers are manipulating data to make the case for global warming. Inhofe said the manipulation of climate change data has been going on for a long time, but the disclosure of the breached e-mails could bury the climate change legislation that narrowly passed in the House but is stuck in the Senate. [91]
THE YOUNG TURNING AGAINST OBAMACARE. Previously national polling showed that the under-30 voters were the strongest supporters of the Obama healthcare initiative. While seniors opposed it by almost 2-to-1 and voters 30-64 opposed it by five-to-10-point margins, the under-30 voters backed his program by 58% to 30% opposed. Now under-30 voters are the strongest opponents of the plan! The Zogby poll was commissioned by the League of American Voters. [92]
New Jerseyans have been learning from Conservapedia: "NJ residents now oppose gay marriage."[93]
Network coverage: Obama's state dinner, a moose, and a sleeping sea lion...yes. Climategate? Nope. [94]
In a rare move for television news, Bill Cathcart, Vice President and General Manager for CBS affiliate WTOC in Savannah, Georgia, excoriated political correctness. "We've become so ridiculous with our political correctness," he said. "So afraid of offending, despite the truth. So overly tolerant and self-effacing, pandering and apologizing to be liked. Putting up with absurd challenges to our Constitution, laws, traditions and freedoms, that we've become a nation of enablers for those with evil intent." [95]
As Sarah Palin grows in popularity, Barack Obama hits new lows in polls.[96] It appears as if Obama's health care ambitions will be his Waterloo.[97]
National Bible Bee results: Out of 17,000 contestants, there are 300 national qualifiers and nine finalists. 100% of the finalists, and 89% of the national qualifiers, are homeschooled.[98] Why are we not surprised?
WARMING ESTABLISHMENT ROCKED BY WIDESPREAD FRAUD AS MEDIA RETREATS!
Even George Monbiot, one of the fiercest media propagandists of the warming faith, admits he should have been more skeptical and says the science now needs to be rechecked. "There appears to be evidence here of attempts to prevent scientific data from being released, and even to destroy material that was subject to a freedom of information request."
"Worse still, some of the emails suggest efforts to prevent the publication of work by climate sceptics, or to keep it out of a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. I believe that the head of the unit, Phil Jones, should now resign. Some of the data discussed in the emails should be re-analysed." [99][100]
A private investigator says he found tens of thousands of sensitive documents dumped outside a California ACORN office just days after the state attorney general announced an inquiry into the community organizing group. The investigator searched the trash bin and discovered more than 20,000 documents he believes point to illicit relationships between ACORN and a bank and a labor union — as well as confidential information that could put thousands at risk for identity theft. Anyone surprised? [101]
Conservapedia delivers: in 2007, 15 out of 38 students in our Economics course performed at college level on our midterm exam. This time 30 out of our 50 students did that well! (One student took both exams and confirmed their same level of difficulty.)
The power of language, words and how big government manipulates it for their own agenda. [102]
City Council liberals in Marietta, Ga., are set to consider changing the oath of office that the city's police officers take so recruits can swear to uphold the law without saying "so help me God". Sounds as if they need a Tea Party of their very own! [103]
Just 38% of voters now favor the Obamacare scheme proposed by President Obama and the congressional Democrats. That's the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June. Even worse news for Obama and the Dems is the finding that 70% of independent voters are opposed and 60% of Senior Citizens oppose it as well. [104]
Nearly all ex-husbands lose in their attempts to obtain custody, but a former lesbian partner just obtained SOLE custody: a family court "ordered a first-of-its kind parent custody change Friday in a child-visitation ... [and] granted sole custody of 7-year-old Isabella Miller to her nonbiological but court-recognized parent."[105].
Parents who thought their preschoolers were spending time in home-based day cares, taking naps, eating healthy snacks and learning to play nicely with others may be surprised to discover they are sitting as many as two hours a day in front of a TV! When added to the two to three hours many parents already admit to allowing at home, preschoolers in child care may be spending more than a third of the about 12 hours they are awake each day in front of the electronic baby sitter, said Dr. Dimitri Christakis, a pediatrician at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle and a researcher at the University of Washington. [106]
The five Terrorists facing trial in the September 11 attacks will now plead not guilty so that they can air their criticisms of U.S. foreign policy, the lawyer for one of the defendants said Sunday. Earlier they had stated their intentions of pleading guilty before the planned military tribunals. Perhaps this is the reason President Obama and Attorney Geneneral Eric Holder decided to bring them to the U.S., to put America and George W. Bush on trial? [107]
