Kevin Owen McCarthy (born January 26, 1965) was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, as elected by the House on January 7, 2023.[2] His selection came after negotiations, including a concession that anyone can call for a vote to oust the Speaker and the creation of an investigative committee to probe the weaponization by liberals of the federal government.

McCarthy is also the United States Representative for California's 23rd congressional district. A Republican, he was from 2014 to 2019 the House Majority Leader, elected by his colleagues to succeed Eric Cantor of Virginia, who resigned from the House after his primary defeat by conservative Dave Brat. From 2007 to 2013, McCarthy represented the 22nd district of California. Prior to that time, he served in the California State Assembly.

On November 15, 2022, McCarthy was re-elected the House Majority Leader for the remainder of the 117th session of Congress ending in January 2023. His election as Speaker of the House was contentious and required precedent-setting commitments to a conservative voting bloc.[3][4] While many hoped that, as Speaker, he will reverse the Leftist tyranny imposed under Democrat Nancy Pelosi's reign of terror against patriotic Americans (for example, the illegal Pelosi Panel witchhunt) and despite being endorsed by President Trump himself,[5][6][7] McCarthy has in the past promoted the interests of the Deep State. He was ousted from the role of House Majority Leader on October 3, 2023 in response to action initiated by conservative Matt Gaetz.

U.S. House of Representatives

In July 2020, McCarthy joined 71 House Republicans and all Democrats in voting to remove Civil War-era statues.[8]

After Rep. Louie Gohmert tested positive for the coronavirus, McCarthy accidentally referred to the former as “Congressman COVID.”[9]

After passing the Ukraine aid package to assist the fascist regime of Kyiv, McCarthy was ousted from his leadership position by conservative Republicans in October 2023.

Opposition to Steve King

After the strongly conservative, anti-establishment representative Steve King made a blunt comment that was exaggerated by the media to promote the narrative of him being a “racist”, McCarthy and other House Republicans quickly stripped King of his committee assignments.[10] In mid-May 2020, McCarthy stubbornly continued to vow that King “cannot be exonerated” over the mere comment that was made.[11]

Ousted

On Oct 3, 2023, Mccarthy was ousted as Speaker,[12] in a narrow (216-210)[13] historic vote, after[14] Rep. Matt Gaetz's led step with 7 other Republicans for his removal, then via the help of the Democratic Party (- in order to defeat GOP).

Following his removal, Mccarthy said, he won't run again for House Speaker.[13]
