Tea Party organizers are not controlled or funded by the Republican Party or any established interest group.  

Tea Party organizers are often funded by interest groups such as FreedomWorks, which refuses to disclose the identities of its (likely corporate) donors.  However, some Tea Party groups have disavowed this connection because it makes the Republican Party's control of these groups too obvious.
