Stephanie Bice (born November 11, 1973 (age 52)) is an Oklahoma state senator currently running for United States House of Representatives from the 5th congressional district in the 2020 elections to challenge Democrat incumbent Kendra Horn. A conservative Republican, she is considered a strong candidate and slightly favored to win in a district that favored Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. presidential election by a thirteen-point margin.[1]
Early life/education
Bice was born in Oklahoma City in 1973. She attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a degree in marketing and proceeded to work for a family tech company in business strategy and financial oversight.
2020 U.S. House election in Oklahoma's 5th district
Bice announced in April 2019 her run for United States House of Representatives to challenge Kendra Horn.[2]
The Republican primary was won by candidate Terry Neese with a plurality with 36.5% of the vote, with Bice trailing in second place.[3] Under state election law, a runoff soon followed,[4] and Bice won the latter over Neese by a relatively close margin.[5]
A debate between Bice and Horn was held on October 14, 2020.[6]
Two polls have found the race to be close, with Bice leading Horn by close margins.[7][8] Politico, the Cook Political Report, and RealClearPolitics consider the race to be a "tossup".[9][10][11]
She was one of thirty-five Republicans to vote for the Partisan Hack resolution calling for an Investigation on Capital Hill.[12]
