Wealth redistribution makes individuals dependent on the government for handouts rather than their own hard work and perseverance. Central control and distribution of wealth is a key aspect of socialist and communist regimes, in that governments control all aspects of the economy, rather than allowing the invisible hand of the free market to lead.
