Liberalism-ism

"Liberalism-ism" is a term coined by British conservative politician Douglas Carswell to describe the belief that anything labelled "liberal," or "progressive," or "social" must be inherently good, and anything labelled "conservative," or "traditional," or "fiscally conservative" must be inherently bad. He argues that this notion of the political spectrum, a belief that "progress" is gained only by enacting stricter or greater legislation in order to achieve an idealist goal, has reached such a level that it may be itself termed an ideology; "the irrational belief in the ideology of liberalism", says Carswell in "The Left was Never Right", "has reached the level of an ideology in its own right; "liberalism-ism."
