It often happens that when a liberal runs out of arguments, he will tell lies and utilize blatant logical fallacies.

Race and political party

For example, liberals have claimed for decades that Republicans are racist and that only Democrats truly care about oppressed minorities. As evidence, they cite the facts that John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy helped Martin Luther King with the civil rights movement, and that Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. They also cite the exodus of segregationists from the Democratic Party in the middle of the 20th century, as in Strom Thurmond's 1948 presidential campaign.

However, they ignore that it was the Republican Party, founded specifically as an anti-slavery party, that freed the blacks; that White House support for civil rights tended to be the exception, not the rule; and that George W. Bush appointed more people of color to prominent offices than any president before him.

Science and economics

Like many other groups, liberals will lie about science for political purposes. For example, most economists consider intemperate wealth redistribution to be poor economic policy, but these findings are ignored. More recently, they have turned to sneakier methods, such as the "carbon tax" mandated by the Kyoto Protocol, which has less to do with sound environmental policy than with establishing a larger government bureaucracy, which can then be relied upon to support the liberals.
