The University of Pittsburgh, founded in 1787, has evolved into an internationally recognized center of learning and research. It is located in the Oakland district of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Freedom of Thought and Expression
The University of Pittsburgh requires a one credit hour course, "Anti-Black Racism: History, Ideology, and Resistance (PITT 0210)" to indoctrinate all students in anti-racism. Students are automatically enrolled in the class and cannot drop it for any reason.[3] The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education gives the Univeristy of Pittsburgh a "yellow" rating.[4]
Cathedral of Learning
The main building of the campus is the Cathedral of Learning, a structure dedicated in 1937. It is 42 stories tall, making it the second tallest education building in the world. It houses classrooms and offices, with the honors college offices located on the top floor. It is well known for its Nationality Classrooms (located on floors 1-3), which are classrooms decorated in the styles of the national cultures their name represents.[5]
Forbes Field
The campus is also the site of the former Forbes Field, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team until 1970, when it was torn down. There is still a piece of the outfield wall left intact, and home plate is located in a glass case on the floor of a newer building on campus, the Forbes Quadrangle.
Petersen Events Center
The Petersen Events Center is one of the newest buildings on campus, built on the site of the former Pitt Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Panthers football team (the team now plays at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers). In 'The Pete', the Pittsburgh Panthers men's and women's varsity basketball teams play their home games, and it is also a concert venue.
