Temple University is a Pennsylvania public university founded in 1884.[2] Its main campus is 1.5 miles north of Center City Philadelphia, and the University also operates programs for studying abroad in London, Beijing, Paris, Mumbai and other locations.[2] It was ranked a third-tier school in US News's 2008 "National Universities: Tier 3" list.[3]

Dr. Russell Conwell founded the school as an informal adult-education outgrowth of his Baptist Temple ministry, Temple College was chartered in 1888 and was incorporated as Temple University in 1907.[2]
