Louisiana Tech University is a Louisiana public university founded in 1894 and based in Ruston, the seat of Lincoln Parish in north Louisiana.[2] It was ranked a fourth tier school in 2008 by U.S. News and World Report magazine.[3] In 2008 is had a 23:1 student-faculty ratio.[2]

To the west of Louisiana Tech is the historically African American Grambling University.

Athletics

The women's basketball team has won 2 national championships.[4]

Terry Bradshaw played football for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs before his selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Interestingly, in his first year he was the backup quarterback behind Phil Robertson, who would later gain fame as the founder of Duck Commander and the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan.
