The University of California is a state-wide college system. Of the three tiers of higher public education in California (community colleges, California State University, and UC), it is the highest. Often abbreviated as UC, the system includes the following undergraduate schools:
Campuses
- UC Berkeley
- UCLA
- UC Davis
- UC Santa Barbara
- UC San Diego
- UC Irvine
- UC Santa Cruz
- UC Riverside
- UC Merced
UC San Francisco is also part of the UC system, but it offers only graduate studies in health sciences.
The original University of California was UC Berkeley, which for this reason is commonly referred to as "Cal."
