Texas Tech University is a Texas public university founded in 1923.[2] It was ranked a third tier school in US News's 2008 "National Universities: Top Schools" list.[3]
Its current chancellor is Kent Hance, a former U.S. representative who unsuccessfully sought the Republican gubernatorial nominations in 1986 and 1990. Hance also defeated George W. Bush in a race for Congress in 1978.
Athletics
