The University of Michigan is the state run, public university serving Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint. The University was founded in 1817, and today the enrollment is over 54,000 students. The University has specialities in Life Sciences, Medicine and Technology.[2] The Ann Arbor campus is known for being especially liberal and is very accepting of drug use and homosexuals. It is a common place for liberal demonstrations, which often draw a large supporting crowd. Visitors preaching Conservatism usually get heckled and harassed by the liberal students.
Varsity sports teams at the U of M are Wolverines.
