Betty L. McCollum, born July 12, 1954 (age 70), is a former teacher and sales manager currently representing Minnesota's 4th congressional district. A leftist and member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, she was elected in 2000 in the heavily liberal area and re-elected by large margins since. McCollum has been noted for her anti-Israel advocacy[1] similar to fellow colleagues Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. She is also a co-sponsor of the far-left Green New Deal proposal.[2]
An arrogant liberal, McCollum has attacked critics as "anti-American" and "inciting hate, racism, and intolerance" for playing a video clip of her refusing to say "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.[3]

U.S. House of Representatives
2010 election
Rep. McCollum faced a strong challenge from pro-life conservative Republican Teresa Collett in the 2010 Midterm Elections, where she had been noted for ducking debates.[4] While managing to win in the strongly left-wing district, McCollum's margin of victory was only half of what they previously had been.[5]
2020 election
McCollum ran for and easily won re-election in 2020 to an eleventh term in office,[6] defeating Republican opponent Gene Rechtzigel by a landslide with over 60% of the vote.[7]
Tenure
Trump era
Despite having once been regarded as a relatively quiet member of Congress, McCollum became more outspoken during the Trump era due to TDS,[8] though she did not join far-left then-representative Keith Ellison's boycott of Trump's 2017 inauguration.[9] She co-sponsored a proposal to impeach the president in January 2018,[10][11] and voted in favor of the impeachment coup in December 2019.[12]
Rep. McCollum voted in favor of the far-left Equality Act.[13]
McCollum in mid-February 2020 voted in favor of removing the ratification deadline for the Equal Rights Amendment, joining all House Democrats.[14]
Following Donald Trump's successes in the killing of several Iranian leaders directly associated with terrorism, McCollum and other congressional Democrats backed legislation to curb Trump's war powers.[15]
During the coronavirus pandemic, McCollum joined the majority of House Democrats in voting in favor of the "HEROES Act",[16] a highly partisan pork barrel bill.[17] The legislation contained proposals to bail out the Postal Service and was noted for being over 1,800 pages long.
Anti-Israel record
McCollum, also referred to as "BDS Betty",[18] holds a strong record of promoting anti-Zionist causes. In 2006, she voted against the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006, which restricts U.S. relations with the Palestinians if they continue to be controlled by Hamas.[19] She introduced a bill in 2017 to halt U.S. aid to Israel,[20] calling the latter's policies "apartheid" at a pro-Palestinian conference.[21] McCollum was among only seventeen U.S. representatives in late July 2019 to vote against an anti-BDS resolution.[22] After being the subject of a harsh attack by the AIPAC in February 2020, she accused the pro-Israel organization of "weaponizing anti-Semitism" and called them a "hate group".[23]
Along with two dozen other progressive Democrats in 2015, McCollum boycotted a speech given by Benjamin Netanyahu on the survival of Israel.[24] Later that year, she and several other House colleagues attended a prayer service at a mosque with connections to radical terrorists.[25]
In late November 2020, McCollum participated at an American Muslims for Palestine conference alongside bigoted far-leftists Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, where several people with ties to terrorists had been present.[26]
Political positions
According to On the Issues, McCollum is a consistent leftist who is staunchly pro-abortion, a supporter of the homosexual agenda, pro Gun control, and a proponent of illegal immigration.[27]
