Javier Gerardo Milei (born October 22, 1970) is the President of Argentina since Dec. 2023, an economist, National Deputy from Dec, 2021 to Dec. 2023. He has libertarian, anarcho-capitalist and minarchist stances and likes the Austrian School of Economics. He received his degree as an economist from the University of Belgrano. He is the leader of the Liberty Advances party coalition.

He is against abortion, believes in God, and recognizes global warming as a "lie of socialism." Milei is particularly strong against inflation, and has proposed that it be made a:

crime for the state and the central bank to monetize the public deficit and create inflation. Consequently, heads of state and of the government, ministers, central bank officials, and representatives who, in one way or another, decide, promote, or participate in the creation of money and the inflationary financing of the public deficit will be tried and sentenced as criminals.[2]

His best books are Economy readings in Kirchner times (2014), Economic Policy Time Trial (2014), The return to the path of the Argentine Decadence (2015), Maquinita, Infleta and Devaluta with Diego Giacomini (2016), Once again soup: little machine, infleta and devaluta: essays of monetary economy for the Argentine case with Diego Giacomini (2017), and Unmasking the Keynesian lie. Keynes, Friedman and the triumph of the Austrian School (2018).

His first appearance on TV was on 2014, and since then he has gained fame appearing on debates[3] and gaining momentum on the youth via Social Media. The majority of young Argentinians are Libertarians,[4] and have grown up during a perpetual economic crisis. Critics call him a performance artist.

In 2021 he was elected as deputy and served until he became President in 2023.

He feels represented with the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the 38th President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.[5] He is pro-Israel,[6] a country which he wants to visit first during his presidential term and change Argentina's embassy to Jerusalem.[7][8] and pro-Ukraine. He is an economist from the World Economic Forum.[9]

His Vice President is the Traditional Catholic, Victoria Villarruel.

2023 Presidential election

Flag representing Milei as a lion.

Javier Milei was the anti-establishment candidate of the presidential election which was first on the polls and is getting support even from peronist voters.[10][11][12][13] The common citizen of Argentina supports Milei as they see him as the only solution to the massive inflation problem from the country, and he is the only one that represents a real change.[14][15]

Javier Milei proposes to dollarize Argentina, dropping the Argentinian peso, and adopting the U.S. Dollar as the official currency. He always say that he would like to close the Central Bank since he sees it as a tool from the politicians to manipulate the currency and generate inflation.

On campaign he said he wouldn't make business with Leftist countries as President, including China and Brazil (because of Lula da Silva being in power), however, that he won't restrict private commerce with those countries. Once elected, he softened his tone on foreign relations, as well with Pope Francis who called "a communist" during an old interview and now says that he will be received with honors as a Head of State and the Spiritual Leader of Argentina since most of the country is Catholic.

The government when the 2023 election took place, there was a left-wing government that had the corrupt vice-president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and the inept President Alberto Fernández, their collation is called "Frente de Todos" (Front from Everyone) and is called by Milei "Frente de Chorros" (Front of Thieves). On the opposition the center-right coalition created by the former President Mauricio Macri proposes Horacio Larreta as candidate, and some want Patricia Bullrich (which is more conservative). Their establishent center-right coalition is called "Juntos por el Cambios" (Joint for Change) and called by Milei "Juntos por el Cargo" (Joint for a Political charge).

Javier Milei won the primary and the second round and became President of Argentina assuming on December 10, 2023, being the first Libertarian President of the World.

Milei crushed "Argentine left, becomes world's first libertarian head of state."

Trump-like Javier Milei won 56% of the vote, and 20 of 23 Argentine provinces, in decisive win over Economy Minister Sergio Massa.

Presidency

In 2023, the anti-establishment libertarian and anarcho-capitalist, Javier Milei won the Presidency in a landslide victory having 55.69 % of the votes. His Vice President, Victoria Villarruel is a Traditional Catholic that attends the Society of Saint Pius X.

Milei was inaugurated on December 10, 2023.[20] The core of his planned foreign policy consists of closer ties to the Biden junta (however he is a Trump ally, so he wants to have closer ties with the U.S.), Israel and the Maidan regime, and more hostile relations with the Russia and the rest of the BRICS.[21][22][23][24] This includes ditching the Argentine peso in favor of the U.S. dollar despite its ongoing failure and displacement by BRICS currencies, a policy critics say will end in disaster and that exposes his covert globalist affiliation.[25] However, after decades of inflation in Argentina, the best way to ensure a stable economy is to ditch the Central Bank, which was not autonomous (the Administrations printed unlimited cash), and to change the currency to the Dollar will ensure that future administrations won't start the same pattern of inflation. Ecuador, Panama and El Salvador already adopted the Dollar in the region.[26] Zelenski and Viktor Orbán were present in his inauguration and they both discussed about Putin during the event.

The first day, Javier Milei reduced the ministries of Argentina from 18 to 9 to reduce public spending, only including Infrastructure, Economy, Justice, Human Capital, Security, Defense, Foreign Relations, Interior, Health. Luis Caputo, former minister from the Macri Administration and Patricia Bullrich were incorporated to the new Libertarian Administration. Bullrich lost to Milei and Massa in the first round of the elections, she gave support to Milei in the second round.

On December 22, 2023 it was reported that China froze a $6.5 billion USD currency swap line with Argentina. Analysts say this complicates Milei's fight against inflation.[27]
