Beebe: President Trump is trying to hold together a Republican party that itself is divided along a number of lines, but particularly over foreign policy. I think there is a large portion of the party that still wants to think that we're in the early 2000s. We're still in a unipolar moment. The United States can essentially dictate to other countries what they can and can't do. And we don't really have to prioritize. We don't really have limited resources and capabilities. We can take on the Russians and the Iranians and the North Koreans and the Chinese all allied together. And we can still triumph. No need for making any kind of compromises or setting any kind of priorities on all this. And I think the reality is that that's just not possible.

Now arrayed against that part of the party is another part that I would regard as realists, or restrainers, or prioritizers. They go by many different names, and there are nuances among them. But they essentially begin from the premise that the United States has limited capabilities and as a result we have to prioritize our interests in the world. We can't have unlimited ambitions with limited capabilities. There has to be a balance there.

And so, how do you do that? And part of this, I think, means you've got to have a more pragmatic relationship with Russia, one that doesn't drive Russia and China to cooperate against the United States and the West in security matters to a much greater degree than they would otherwise. You don't pick a two-front fight with great powers in a multipolar world. That's not going to work out well. And I think right now there are significant numbers of Republicans that fall into that realist camp that are saying, "Wait a minute, this is not going well." Our efforts strategically, to find a way out of the culde-sac that we've maneuvered ourselves into, aren't working. We've got to pursue a settlement in Ukraine in ways that are realistic and can work. We've got to figure out how to deal with Iran in ways that don't lead toward perpetual conflict and war in the Middle East. I think Trump rhetorically has said all of this, but the question is, how do you translate those intentions into actual progress? That's where things are breaking down.

I think now we understand why Trump abandoned the 50 day deadline and moved it up to a 10 day or two-week deadline just after Russia captured 2 active duty NATO Colonels and a UK MI6 operative illegally directing terrorist operations from Ukrainian soil against the Russian Federation. [5]

Since the debate in the West is over peacekeepers in a Ukrainian DMZ and Russia will reject any notion of NATO "peacekeepers", how about North Korean peacekeepers?

Should you want to use a nation as cannon fodder against another nation, ideological preparation is necessary. A nation will not enter a non-defensive war which will result in mass casualties unless the proper level of brainwashing has been achieved. In other words, if you want to avoid backlash at home, you need to have a population who wants to go to war – or a population under very tight control – knowledge-wise or otherwise. Ideological control or preparedness can be achieved by various means. Economic problems and poverty are good if you can blame the right people. Fear-mongering works – but not necessarily for ‘proactive’ wars. Control can also be established by indoctrination starting in childhood.

Exactly that was done to prepare Ukraine for being used against Russia, starting immediately after the fall of the Soviet Union – and before that in the case of western Ukraine. Western Ukraine’s Nazi leanings were encouraged and supported by the West – and turned into a mass movement with torchlight marches and Third Reich customs and symbols. A fake history and mythology was created for Ukraine and put into school books. Russophobia was made a part of the curriculum. This worked quite well – as we have seen.

There are, however, surprisingly few countries in Europe that are ideologically ready to be sacrificed in a war against Russia. There might even be a backlash in a deranged Russophobic country such as Germany if its authorities were to engage in an open war against Russia. The same might possibly apply to Poland, and very likely Romania. If things go out of control on the battlefield they might go out of control at home as well. This means that the pool of suicide counties is not as great as the EU authorities would prefer.

lemme 'splain a simple fact in military/geopolitical science: Expect major developments in Sept. & Oct - just before the winter sets in and fighting slows. That way we are subjected to 6 mos. of propaganda about who's the good guys and who's the bad guys before major fighting resumes next spring. (Examples: WWI started Aug. 1, WWII Sept. 1, Phony war, etc. I'll be home for Christmas).

Russia’s military success infuriates the U.S. and NATO. The US and NATO have something planned, something which they know can trigger nuclear war. Something with huge propaganda value. It won’t change the military outcome, but they hope it triggers a massive Russian response. They repeatedly try to bait Russia and Russia wisely keeps refusing to take the bait. During the measures to detain the terrorists, they put up armed resistance and were neutralized by return fire.

The FSB of Russia once again reminds that members of terrorist organizations are actively working on the Internet, social networks, Telegram and WhatsApp messengers in order to involve Russian citizens in illegal activities. Taking advantage of their credulity, recruiters force their victims to commit serious and especially serious crimes, for which long prison terms are provided.
The Russians do not respond to such provocations. They do not allow themselves to be baited by these attacks from the arsenal of cognitive warfare. They are professionals. They look at the map, they look at the numbers. Military professionals pay attention to what is happening at the level of actual operations, they know their statistics and understand scientific probability theory and the analysis of forces and means (Correlation of Forces and Means – COFM). Russia's strength or weakness is not determined by the bombastic chatter of dishonest, corrupt Western politicians, but by the facts – and these are clear.

Russia did not respond appropriately to the West crossing red lines? Russia has twice destroyed an entire quasi-NATO army in Ukraine, equipped and financed by the West, and is currently destroying the third and last such army in the course of its war of attrition against the West. Russia is destroying Ukraine's infrastructure and its arms industry. Russia is winning the war.

So why launch “decapitation strikes” against the Nazi regime in Kiev? This would put Russia on the path to a completely different kind of warfare, namely a path of significant escalation with a different outcome to the war than Russia is currently seeking. Russia is not trying to physically destroy NATO or occupy Europe.

For Putin to accept a ceasefire and/or any compromise of his stated and restated goals would be for Russia to accept defeat. That alone would likely throw Russian politics into chaos. To do so in an underhanded way that violated the Russian constitution would be totally out of character for Putin and would certainly throw Russian politics into chaos. Putin knows this and, guess what? Trump and the CIA know it, too. And that, to me, is the point of the [ Oct 19 WaPo ] article. To that end, the article is rather cleverly framed. To Americans it suggests that Putin the dictator is making outrageous demands. But to any non-brain dead Russians who read it, or a summary of the claims, it suggests that Putin is plotting to stab Mother Russia in the back. To me, this has all the appearances of an intel op, and if I were Putin I’d stop talking to Trump if this is how “negotiations” are going to be abused—to try to set Putin up for regime change.

It just so happens that this article appears a bit more than a week after a bruhaha arose among nominally pro-Russian commentators in the West, demanding to know why Putin wasn’t threatening to nuke DC, just to let Trump know that “giving Tomahawks to Ukraine” was a bad idea. They’ve been calling Putin a “weak liberal” who has failed to prosecute the war vigorously and is constantly cringing before Trump’s escalations.

Prominent among those voices has been Gilbert Doctorow. In this light it may be worth repeating what I wrote back on October 10. First, let me repeat my fundamental point about the geopolitical dynamics that are at play. Trump is out to save the Anglo-Zionist Empire—the financial foundations of which (King Dollar hegemony) are crumbling under the weight of US debt. The only way that this can be accomplished is by seizing or finagling natural resources from other countries—Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, Argentina, etc.—but, above all, by breaking up BRICS. Breaking up BRICS fundamentally means prying Russia and China apart. That can only be done by either defeating Russia in Ukraine, or by getting Putin to forego victory and accept defeat in the form outlined above.

Putin understands all of this. He’s been talking about US plans to scam its way out of its debts since at least 2016.

Another fascinating revelation has come by way of the latest FT article, whose “sources” reveal a portrait of Trump 180-degrees reversed from his ‘for-public-consumption’ persona: [39]

Granted, I often harp on that “sources” from these mainstream mierdias should never be taken at face value, but in this case common sense and reason tells us there’s likely truth to this reporting. Contrary to his public declarations that Russia is losing untold millions of men and its economy faces collapse, Trump privately warned Ukraine that Russia would “destroy” the Ukrainian state if Zelensky didn’t immediately make major concessions by giving up Donbass.

According to a European official with knowledge of the meeting, Trump told Zelenskyy that the Ukrainian leader needed to cut a deal or face destruction.
The official said that Trump told Zelenskyy he was losing the war, warning: “If [Putin] wants it, he will destroy you.”

If that weren’t enough, Trump’s private opinion on Russia’s economic situation is also the complete opposite of his public one. Recall the video I posted just in the last article wherein Trump says Russia’s economy is “collapsing”—it seems even he doesn’t believe his own bunk:

Also, don’t forget the now-famous Trump social media rant wherein he declared that Ukraine can definitely win the war and should go on the offensive. My position that this was a total troll-job on Trump’s part was considered ‘controversial’ by some, as people simply took it at face value;

Simplicius: By the way, several important things need to be said about the Budapest meeting proposal.

Firstly, as was the case last time, it has been the US side reporting the ‘upcoming’ meeting as if it’s a done deal, whereas the Russians have far more circumspectly stated that the proposal to meet will be examined. That’s not to mention the fact that Rubio and Lavrov are supposed to meet initially to first iron out the agenda long before the Trump and Putin meeting can even happen. There’s good reason to thus believe that the meeting won’t happen because it’s hard to imagine what ‘agenda’ the two sides can possibly agree upon: there is simply nothing for Trump and Putin to discuss, as the two sides are not even on the same page vis-a-vis the conflict’s resolution....

...it cleverly gains Russia a huge amount of territory for free in the form of Donetsk and Lugansk. Most significantly what this gains is the entire agglomerate of Slavyansk-Kramatorsk [Ed: pop 500,000] which Ukraine would have to cede.

And that’s where the guile comes in. On one hand, there’s very little chance that Zelensky or the AFU would willingly abandon both Slavyansk and Kramatorsk in this way, so it makes Putin’s offer a low-risk gambit meant to make him look amenable to negotiations....

...Russia would gain Slavyansk and Kramatorsk for free—which would now be “behind” the Russian Army—while the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions ostensibly ‘ceded’ by Putin in exchange would still again be on the table for Russia to liberate. The advantageous game-theoretic value here is quite simple to see.

Comment: Russian inflation was caused by recruitment bonuses, etc. Many Russians now employed in the army & military industrial complex are making 3 times as much income, ahead of inflation, as before the war. Following the US Keynesian model of WWII, Russia has plenty of room to expand, unlike the United States (19% debt to GDP vs 125% debt to GDP in the United States). The sterility of User:Conservative's spamming and "argument" over the past several years only proves how stubborn and ignorant he is in the art of rhetoric and debate. The real damage done is in time lost and information pollution he spammed into the CP database.
Further expansion of theoretical concept: As in WWII United States, "wartime privations" of consumer goods caused by war production and needs (and economic sanctions) forces peacetime consumer spending into savings & government bonds, which fueled the post-war economic boom (in the US it lasted from 1949-1966 and gave us a construction boom and the Boomer generation. Russia has not even entered that phase yet. As I told User:Conservative dozens of times, his spam about a supposed collapsing Russian economy came from economistss who don't know the difference between a peacetime economy and a wartime economy, which the video tries to explain).
