Gerald Edward “Gerry” Connolly (born March 30, 1950 (age 74)) is a public administrator and liberal Democrat currently representing Virginia's 11th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.
Connolly is a member of the New Democrat Coalition.
U.S. House of Representatives
2008 election
Connolly ran for and won election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008 amidst a massive blue wave, defeating Republican opponent Keith Fimian by over ten percentage points. Aside from his 2010 election fight,[2] Connolly won his re-elections handily.
Tenure
Connolly supported[3] and voted in favor of the sham articles of impeachment against President Trump.[4] This was despite the fact that in early June 2018, he warned against trying to impeach Trump over concerns of potential voter backlash.[5]
