Education
In 1982, Kelly received a bachelor of science degrees in marine engineering and marine transportation (with highest honors) from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1986, and a master of science degree in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 1994.
Gun control activism
Since retiring from NASA, Kelly has become an outspoken, but hypocritical proponent of gun control.[2] Kelly tried to buy an AR-15 from an Arizona gun store as part of a publicity stunt, but the purchase was denied after he made public statements saying that he was not buying the rifle for personal use.[3] Kelly was also featured in a bizarre video where he bragged about owning a 9mm Glock saying “This is the same kind of gun Gabby was shot with.” [4] In that video, Kelly proceeded to shoot at several targets setting on a rock formation, but failed to injure himself or anyone else with ricochets.[5]

Fundraising
As reported on July 31, 2019, Kelly has "earned" 1.8 million dollars for giving speeches.[6] Out of this sum, $125 thousand was "earned" from giving four speeches at colleges, despite blatant hypocrisy in Kelly's college affordability activism.[7]
Campaign spending
According to MSN, Kelly spent thrice as much money on ads compared to the amount his opponent Martha McSally has spent,[8] with his ads including a series begging for donations prior to Donald Trump's visit at a rally in Arizona.
Awards
Kelly was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal (2 awards), four Air Medals (2 individual/2 strike flight) with Combat “V,” 2 Navy Commendation Medals (one with combat “V”), Navy Commendation Medal with “V,” Navy Achievement Medal, two Southwest Asia Service Medals, Navy Expeditionary Medal, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Overseas Service Ribbon, and various other unit awards. [2]
Personal life
Mark Kelly is currently married to Gabrielle Giffords. He has two children from a previous marriage. In 2013, Kelly and one of his daughters were walking their pit bull on a California beach when the dog attacked and killed a baby seal.[9] Killing a baby seal is illegal, but under the Obama regime prominent supporters of gun control such as Mark Kelly, journalist David Gregory,[10] and cocaine-addicted[11] propagandist David Brock[12] are not prosecuted for breaking laws.
Mark Kelly's brother, Scott J. Kelly, is the current commander of the International Space Station, Expedition 26 (ISS), a veteran of two space shuttle missions.
