Gilad Shalit

Gilad Shalit (born August 28, 1986) is an Israeli who was kidnapped as an IDF soldier on regular duty, in the Kerem Shalom area on June 25, 2006 by Arab Palestinian terrorists who belonged to the terrorist organizations Hamas, the Popular "Resistance" Committees, and the Army of Islam. Shalit was held captive in the Gaza Strip For about five years and four months (1,941 days) as part of a deal between Israel and Hamas He was released and returned to Israel on October 18, 2011, in exchange for the release of 1,027 security terror related prisoners, including hundreds of lifers. Notoriously, Yahya Sinwar.
