The Hague Initiative for International Cooperation (thinc.) is an independent global network of international law academics and practitioners based in The Hague, Netherlands. Founded in 2017, the organisation focuses on the "balanced and non-discriminatory" application of international law to the Israeli–"Palestinian" conflict and the State of Israel.[1]

The director is Andrew Tucker, Australian-born, Dutch-based international lawyer, writer and speaker.[2][3][4] Pieter Hoogendoorn is chairman.[5]

Activities

The organisation operates through three primary pillars: research, education, and advocacy. Its research often addresses what it terms "lawfare"—the perceived misuse of legal institutions to delegitimize Israel's sovereignty.[6]

thinc.Academy

The group provides educational programming, including: Israel on Trial: An online course and 500-page textbook examining the legal history of the state

Masterclass & Summer School: Academic programs held in The Hague and Israel for law students and young professionals.[thinc-israel.org Educational Programs].

Legal Positions

The organisation frequently submits amicus curiae observations and briefings to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ). It maintains that the laws of Occupation (international law)|occupation are often misapplied to the West Bank and argues for the continued relevance of the San Remo Resolution and the Mandate for Palestine.[7]
