Paxlovid (irmatrelvir and ritonavir) is an investigational medication made by Pfizer and promoted by liberal public health officials. It is currently available (July 2022) only by emergency use authorization, because it has not been fully proven to be safe and effective.
Paxlovid contains a “black box” warning about severe adverse consequences, which can include death, from interaction with commonly used drugs. In addition to unexpected drug interactions, adverse side effects include liver toxicity, kidney toxicity, allergic reactions, and high blood pressure.
The FDA warns that “pharmacists should refer the patients to a healthcare professional licensed to prescribe drugs if there is not sufficient information to assess kidney or liver function, or if modifications are needed due to a potential drug reaction.”
