Jamaal Bowman (born April 1, 1976) is an American politician who is serving as the U.S. representative for New York's 16th congressional district since 2021. He defeated 16 term Establishment Democrat Elliot Engel in the primaries.
Policies
While not an Establishment candidate like Engel, Bowman is undoubtedly the more radical of the two. Bowman along with Cori Bush joined the Squad which consists of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley.[1]
