Melissa Harris-Perry is the African American Marxist scholar and Executive Director of the Pro Humanitate Institute and founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Center. Melissa is Editor-at-Large at the leftist, feminist online magazine ELLE.com. She hosted the television show Melissa Harris-Perry from 2012-2016 on weekend mornings on MSNBC.

Your Children Belong To The State!

She was an unknown until she filmed a promotional video for MSNBC in which she stated that America needs a "collective notion of 'these are our children'" and that "we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents".[1] When criticized for allegedly wanting to take children from their parents into the her utopian collective, she used the classic liberal tactic of claiming to be a victim.[2]

Her comments have earned her the nickname "Stranger Danger" in the conservative Twittersphere.[3]

Harris-Perry also agreed with a guest who stated that the Pro-Life movement was based in white supremacy, a notion that numerous abortion supporters found absurd. Harris-Perry herself wore tampons as earrings in a rather disgusting publicity stunt to support Wendy Davis's opposition to the new Texas abortion law.
