Older lived in Moscow in the 1930s and worked for numerous Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA) organizations. Her brother, journalist Andrew Older, was a secret member of the CPUSA. Older was fired from the OSS after caught attempting to gain access to a file on Ukrainian nationalists for Soviet intelligence Albert Kahn.
