Lisa Fithian
Lisa Fithian is a legendary community organizer[1] who operates in the world of Marxists, anarchists, antiwar protesters, and union activists,[1] and specializes in aggressive "direct action" tactics. Fithian has been linked to Occupy Wall Street,[2] the violent 1999 WTO Riots,[1] Ferguson riots,[3] and the Biden Putsch.[4]
The The New York Times described her this way: "You don't go to Fithian when you want to carry a placard. You go to her when you want to make sure there are enough bolt cutters to go around".[5]
While clashing with police in the devastated Lower Ninth Ward of post-Katrina New Orleans, Fithian said of herself: "When people ask me, 'What do you do?' I say, 'I create crisis, because crisis is the leading edge where change is possible."[6]
Works
Fithian has been the author of several works, including a chapter in the book What lies beneath: Katrina, race, and the state of the nation, titled Common ground relief.[7] She also wrote an introduction to an updated version of Abbie Hoffman's Steal This Book.[8]
